| Hello and welcome to my Website. My name is Cheryl Hedges, I am
the founder of Cheran. A small family run Kennels based in the West
Midlands. The Cheran affix was established in 2002, with some
9 years previous breeding experience behind me, I knew it was time
I had a name that could carry all my hard work forward. Prior to
the formation of my Affix, I had always been heavily involved with
obedience, agility and general dog training, which I have attended
from the age of 15. From there I moved on to take a course by The
National Dog Owners Association to become an obedience trainer.
I also took part in agility and obedience trials and was always
associated with other kennels. We have over the past 10 years established
ourselves as a small hobbyist kennel, where our dogs are much loved
pets that enjoy a well socialized life as part of the family.
Here at Cheran I strive to produce dogs with superior temperaments,
type and an abundance of character. My puppies are raised with lots
of contact with children and friends for which I truly believe this
is a very important part of a puppies life. It helps to produce
a sound temperament, which with large breeds especially, is a very
important point.
As well as breeding for temperament, Cheran strives to produce
puppies of good and sound health. Careful consideration is taken
when planning our future matings, breeding only when we are sure
we will better the breed and only when we know we can make a difference.
I have taken a lot of time researching my breeds and would advise
anyone thinking of buying a puppy, no matter what the breed, to
do the same.
How it all started.....
I have always had a love for large breed dogs. The time came when
after doing a lot of research, I decided I either wanted a Neapolitan
Mastiff or an Akita. I started looking around and contacted breeders
about both breeds to see what puppies were available. Then the unexpected
happened. Out of the blue my partner bought me a Blonde Male Neapolitan
Mastiff. I was overwhelmed. As the Tears of joy rolled down my face
this puppy looked up at me with his big blue eyes. I called him
Blade.
After having the Neapolitan Mastiffs, I was contacted by a friend
of mine to help her rear a litter of Dobermans. I had fed the entire
litter from day one onwards... slowly the litter returned back to
its breeder, but the last and the most beautiful Boy was still with
me. By the time he was ready to go, I ended up purchasing my Zac,
not being able to part with him. He is til this day still a mommies
boy.
I decided it was time to finally introduce the Akita, I had admired
them for years, and now I was ready. Everything was now complete.
I had my most favorite breeds. I will continue to strive to produce
top quality dogs which I can be proud of.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for visiting
the site and taking the time to learn about Cheran.
